FUNDRAISING
Fundraising may seem intimidating, but there are many ways to go about it quite successfully! In the past, the majority of volunteers have financed their trip through personal fundraising (i.e. asking friends and family). If you are part of a local or university chapter, you have a great opportunity to organize group fundraisers and receive grants from your university as well. Below is a list of ways volunteers have successfully raised money in the past:

- Ask us for a template email to send to your family and friends for support!
- Create a Facebook event. Call it “Help [Your Name] Teach Dance in Panama!” or something similar, include a link to your donation page, and invite all of your Facebook friends. You’ll be surprised at who ends up supporting you.
- Go canning. Stand outside busy grocery stores, shopping centers, or bars and collect change. Just be sure to obtain permission from whomever owns the property on which you’ll be soliciting. Enhance the donations you receive by doing some form of street performance.
- Schedule Dine-n-Donates. Ask restaurants to donate a percentage of their profits to your cause for a day. This is mutually beneficial because you bring them customers, and they give you donations!
- Apply for scholarships and grants. Many universities offer travel stipends and similar scholarships for students pursuing overseas social work. Check with your school’s office of financial aid to find out your options.
(NOTE: Applying for a grant for your trip? Make sure to contact us, and we'll supply you with a Grant Kit, including specific information about our organization) - Contact local businesses and organizations for support. Groups like Kiwanis International and Knights of Columbus are typically willing to offer grants for causes like ours, so contact your community’s chapter about the possibility of receiving funding. Send out letters to local businesses to seek sponsorship.
