How Your Support Moved Communities in 2025

2025 has been a year filled with connection, creativity, and growth at Movement Exchange. Thanks to supporters like you, our programs in Panama and across the U.S. continued to expand access to dance education for communities that have limited opportunities for sustained arts programming.

Each week, our four incredible instructors in Panama offer free dance classes across partner sites—from Malambo and San Miguelito to Santa Ana, Panika, and Hogar de la Infancia. They also produce 1–2 performances each year, celebrating student artistry and strengthening community connection. This year’s annual show was especially meaningful, featuring student work alongside guest performances by our open exchange participants and Panamanian dance professionals. It was a beautiful reminder of how dance builds bridges across cultures.

Our mission remains at the heart of everything we do: empowering under-resourced communities through accessible and sustainable dance education. Through our university chapters, international exchanges, and year-round programming, we envision a world where dance is accessible to all, synonymous with service, and a pathway to mental, social, and physical well-being.

A cornerstone of our work is service learning. University students from across the U.S. join us in Panama for one-week volunteer programs that blend cultural exchange with meaningful community engagement. They contribute directly to the work our team leads on the ground while gaining a deeper understanding of civic engagement, cross-cultural connection, and the transformative power of dance.

This year, we strengthened our commitments to civic engagement, social equity, creative

expression, and sustainable dance education. These values flourish because of our community—students, teachers, volunteers, donors, and local leaders who believe in the power of dance to create lasting change.
